Brendan T. Smith, CPA, CFP®, MST
Brendan has been in the financial services industry since 1983 and a partner at Shoreline Financial Advisors since 1996. Before establishing SFA, Brendan was a partner at Simione, Scillia, Larrow and Dowling, LLC. Prior to that, he was a partner at Brown and Brown, LLC. These were both New England firms focusing on tax and estate planning, personal financial planning and accounting for pension plans. Brendan began his career at Arthur Anderson.
Brendan is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. He has a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College and an M.S. in Taxation from Bentley College. Brendan currently serves on the board of the Guilford Library and the Women and Family Life Center. He was also the recipient of the 2016 FIVE STAR Wealth Manager award in the Connecticut Magazine.
Brendan enjoys spending time outdoors: traveling, running road races, boating and fishing on Long Island Sound. He and Patrick have summited 45 out of the 48 highest peaks in New Hampshire. Brendan and his wife Susan have two children, Sam and Emma.
Patrick M. Smith, CFA, MSF
Patrick has been in the financial services industry since 1984 and a partner at Shoreline Financial Advisors since 2001. Prior to SFA, he was a Senior Vice President and portfolio manager at Pioneer Investments. Before Pioneer, Patrick was a Vice President and portfolio manager at Loomis, Sayles & Co, and he began his career as a securities analyst at Putnam Investments. He has appeared several times on CNBC as well as various public television programs to discuss global investment strategy and economics. He has been featured and/or quoted in USA Today, the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, Kiplingers, Money, Financial Planning, Bloomberg, Financial World, and Pensions and Investments.
Patrick has a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Finance from Boston College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts. He also serves on the Guilford Pension Committee. Patrick has been a four year recipient of the FIVE STAR Wealth Manager award for the years of 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013.
Besides summiting 45 of the 48 highest peaks in New Hampshire with Brendan, Patrick enjoys sailing, long distance biking and traveling and cooking with his wife, Susanna. They have two children, Katie and Nathan.
Kristi provides operational support in areas of client service, new account processing, general accounting, fund transfers, accounts payable and special projects. She joined Shoreline Financial Advisors in 2008 and previously worked at Globe Pequot Press.
Kristi graduated from Katharine Gibbs Business School in 1997. She enjoys watching her two sons play sports, reading and sitting by the beach.
Stephanie Van Albert
Financial Advisor Associate
Stephanie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University in 2018 with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Computer Information Systems. While at Quinnipiac, she was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society and the Financial Management Association’s National Honor Society. She was also a member of Quinnipiac’s Division 1 Acrobatics and Tumbling team. Since joining SFA in June 2018, she has passed the Series 65 exam, which qualifies individuals to act as Investment Advisor Representatives. Stephanie is currently studying to become an Enrolled Agent, a credential awarded by the IRS, and will begin the CFP program in 2019.
Before attending Quinnipiac University, Stephanie competed in trampoline and power tumbling, a branch of competitive gymnastics, for 12 years and coached part-time for 5 years. She enjoys spending time kayaking, paddle boarding, cooking, and traveling.
